Platinum Jubilee: 70 Years Of Celebrations In Fulham

To mark Her Majesty the Queen’s triumphant Platinum Jubilee, Fulham Broadway is looking back at 70 years of celebrations in Fulham. Since Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1952, Fulham has been celebrating in style, from community street parties to parades!

The borough has notably celebrated Her Majesty’s Silver (1977), Golden (2002), Diamond (2012), and Sapphire (2017) Jubilees in recognition of an unparalleled reign. But Fulham’s celebrations have extended far beyond royal occasions, from the vibrant Fulham Carnivals to a major street celebration to mark Fulham FC’s first and only appearance in the FA Cup Final (1975).

Taking a wealth of archival photographs as inspiration, illustrator Jamie Beard has masterfully brought new life to these celebrations, depicting many of them in colour for the first time. From 1952 to more recent times, journey through Fulham’s celebrations and see local history in a way that it has never been shown before!
